Technology Training Classes

The Student Technology Center will be offering free training classes in the 2009 Fall semester. These courses are designed to support UTC classes that utilize computers and software. All classes will be taught in the Student Technology Center classroom in UC124 A by the Lab Staff. Scheduling will be based on demand and participation.

Course list:

  1. Website building basics I

    In this class, students will learn how to build a basic website using HTML coding with a text editor. Students will learn to create links, insert images, and upload their site to their own UTC server space.

  2. Photo editing basics with GIMP

    GIMP has many of the features of Photoshop, but at 0% of the price. Learn to crop, re-size, create layers, and save in various file formats.

  3. Using Microsoft Excel 2007

    This course introduces basic concepts and teaches fundamental skills used for creating workbooks in Microsoft Excel 2007. Topics focused on include how to input and format data, perform calculations, and creation of charts and graphs. Upon completion of this course a student should feel confident enough to create a spreadsheet and manipulate data.

  4. Using Microsoft PowerPoint 2007

    This course introduces basic concepts and teaches fundamental skills used for creating presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint 2007. Topics focused on include insterting text and graphics into slides, slide navigation, printing a presentation, and presentation design. Upon completion of this course a student should be confident in creating a well designed presentation.
