Student Support Services/Project Focus
Disability Services
The mission of Disability Services is to ensure that all eligible students can fully participate in academic programs and activities offered by the University. To accomplish its mission, the program will make referrals on your behalf to University departments and community agencies designated to provide accommodations (note takers, readers, exam modifications, etc.). The program strives to increase the level of awareness among members of the University so that participants with disabilities are able to perform at a level limited only by their abilities, not their disabilities. The program also assists participants with disabilities in developing and maintaining independence and encourages self-advocacy.
We provide advocacy on your behalf on issues such as appeals and academic accommodations. We also assist you with developing skills that promote self-advocacy.
Participants are responsible for contacting SSS if reasonable accommodations are not implemented in an effective or timely way. The office will work with University personnel, community agencies, and participants to resolve disagreements regarding recommended accommodations.
