Want to increase your grade one half to one full letter grade?
Supplemental Instruction is a FREE program that the Center for Advisement and Student Success offers that targets difficult classes for students.
These out of class review sessions are led by SI leaders. During this informal session students review notes, discuss readings, develop organization tools, and prepare for examinations.
SI is a place where you can comfortably voice your questions and concerns and get answers.
“Research shows that students who attend SI sessions regularly average one half to one full letter grade higher than their classmates who choose not to attend. Attending SI helps students develop a better understanding of course content as well as more effective ways of studying.”

Quotes:
“SI was very helpful in the process of passing Chemistry 121. The SI leaders are actual students and answer all the questions that you are scared to ask in class. They break the material down to the point so that it is understandable.”-Jasmine Westbrooks
“At first I was just going to SI sessions because it was required by my chemistry class, but after going for a few weeks I realized the sessions were really helpful when it came time to do my homework & on exams. Even though there are a number of students who go to the session, I feel like I got a lot of one on one individualized help.”- Keshia Vann
Supplemental Instruction (SI) is an academic assistance program that utilizes peer-assisted study sessions. SI sessions are regularly-scheduled, informal review sessions in which students compare notes, discuss readings, develop organizational tools, and predict test items. Students learn how to integrate course content and study skills while working together. The sessions are facilitated by “SI leaders”, students who have previously done well in the course and who attend all class lectures, take notes, and act as model students (http://www.umkc.edu/cad/SI/overview.html).
