Important Dates & Deadlines for the Fall2013 - Spring2014 Academic Year
Nov 1 – Firm Scholarship Offers Begin for First-Time Freshmen Applicants
UTC begins sending firm offers for the first-time freshmen scholarships - the Chancellor's, Provost’s, & Mocs Scholarships 1. These award notifications will be sent by U.S. Mail in early November to the permanent address on file with UTC Admissions. Note - Since the Chattanooga YES is dependent on demonstrated financial need, we will not send offers until late April 2013 to allow students/parents time to file the FAFSA & complete any Financial Aid requirements.
Dec 1 – Priority Deadline for Current High School Seniors who will be First-Time Freshmen Applicants
This is the priority application deadline for ALL the first-time freshmen scholarships - the Chancellor's, Provost’s, & Mocs Scholarships as well as the Chattanooga YES 1. By this date, students must have a completed UTC Admissions file (application, $30 application fee, high school transcript, and ACT/SAT score) THEN must complete/submit the UTC Online Scholarship Application for consideration immediately after receiving notification of acceptance. Students must have qualifying scores/GPA to UTC Admissions by December 1, 2012 as well 2.
Jan 1 – Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) available for 2013-2014 Academic Year
To be considered for all other types of Federal and State financial aid at UTC, students must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Early filing of the FAFSA is strongly encouraged as soon as possible after January 1. For more information, pllease visit the UTC Office of Financial Aid home page.
Feb 1 – FAFSA Priority Deadline
Since funding is limited for UTC’s Chattanooga YES grant, as well as for some State/Federal grants, it is strongly encouraged that the FAFSA be filed on or before this date.
Feb 1 – Continuing Students & First-Time Freshmen
Final deadline to apply for scholarships.
July 1 – New Transfer Students
Final deadline to apply for scholarships.
1 UTC scholarship funds are limited and the awarding process is competitive. Meeting the eligibility requirements does not guarantee a student will receive a scholarship. The best way to improve your candidacy is to always submit all required materials as soon as possible.
2 Any first-time freshmen who 1) do not meet this priority deadline or 2) do not meet the eligibility criteria for the Chancellor’s, Provost’s, Mocs, or Chattanooga YES, will be considered for those Endowed Scholarship funds administered by the UTC Scholarship Committee. Awarding of these endowed funds will not begin until May 2013.
