3.5.4 Terminal Degrees of Faculty

At least 25 percent of the discipline course hours in each major at the baccalaureate level are taught by faculty members holding the terminal degree—usually the earned doctorate—in the discipline, or the equivalent of the terminal degree.

Narrative:

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) is committed to excellence in teaching and research.  For the Fall 2009 and Spring 2010 semesters, at least 25 percent of the discipline course hours in each major at the baccalaureate level were taught by faculty members holding the terminal degree. A faculty roster indicating the faculty member, degree earned, and courses taught is attached for Fall 2009 and Spring 2010.  The percentage of faculty holding the terminal degree across the university is 69%. The percentages for each department are presented in the tables below.
