The institution evaluates the effectiveness of its administrators on a periodic basis.
Judgement of Compliance:
At the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC), administrative staff members are evaluated on an annual basis by their respective immediate superiors. Academic administrative staff members (deans, associate provost, and assistant provost) are evaluated by the provost. Department heads are evaluated by their respective deans using the same Evaluation and Development by Objectives (EDO) forms used by faculty members. University of Tennessee System Policy HR0129 requires annual performance review by all regular staff members. All non-faculty employees are evaluated by their respective supervisors using the Staff Performance and Development Review (SPDR) form available on the Human Resources web page.
Each year, faculty members are asked to complete an evaluation of the chancellor, provost, appropriate dean, and department head. This data is compiled and shared with the administrator and the supervisor. Each of these methods of evaluation includes questions pertaining to the attainment of established goals and objectives, leadership of the unit, and overall effectiveness.
