College-Level Examination Program (CLEP)
GENERAL INFORMATION CLEP is a 90 minute computer based exam. On test day, a total of two hours will be required for exam administration and registration process. Each CLEP exam is $80 (price increased July 1, 2012), payable on test day to CLEP via credit card*. A $25 non-refundable pre-registration fee payable to UTC is required prior to scheduling a CLEP exam. There is an additional $10 fee if you need to take the essay portion of American Literature, Analyzing and Interpreting Literature, English Literature, or College Composition Modular.
TEST DATES CLEP exams will be administered by appointment only at UTC in Hooper Hall Room 205 on Wednesday afternoons at 2:00. (click HERE for directions to the testing center)
DIRECTIONS FOR PRE-REGISTRATION
- Completely fill out the attached registration form and indicate which CLEP test you will be taking on test day. IF YOU NEED TO TAKE THE OPTIONAL ESSAY PORTION OF ANY EXAM, PLEASE NOTE THIS ON YOUR REGISTRATION FORM. THERE IS AN ADDITIONAL $10 FEE PER ESSAY. THE ESSAYS HAVE TO BE ORDERED AND TAKE AT LEAST ONE WEEK TO ARRIVE. Click HERE for registration form.
- Mail the registration form and a non-refundable check payable to UTC in the amount of $25.00 to the address on the registration form. Once your registration form and non-refundable fee are received, you will receive a phone call or email from the testing office to schedule a testing date. Once a test date is scheduled, a receipt confirmation and driving directions will be sent by return mail. Please note, if you need to reschedule for any reason, including arriving too late for your scheduled test or arriviving without ID or test fee, you must pay a $25 rescheduling fee.
3. You must have the following items with you on the day of the test:
- Credit card for CLEP test fee
- Picture identification
TEST RESULTS: At the completion of the test, you will receive a printable copy of your exam results (unless you are taking an essay exam). An official score will be mailed to the school recipient within one week of the test administration.
