Collegiate Assesment of Academic Proficiency (CAAP)
As part of our ongoing effort to upgrade the quality of our academic programs, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga requires all students to participate in a program designed to measure knowledge gained through general education courses. As a part of this program, all undergraduate graduating seniors are required to take the Collegiate Assessment of Academic Proficiency (CAAP), a standardized multiple-choice test used to measure content areas related to basic general education (writing skills, mathematics, reading, science, and critical thinking). Aggregated results from these tests will help us to evaluate how well the University prepares students in areas of general education and thus improve the University's curriculum. Another important aspect of this test is the fact that crucial state funding for the UTC programs and services for students is directly linked to the scores of the examinees. In order to minimize the time you will have to spend being tested, you will be randomly assigned to take only one of the five tests mentioned above. The total testing timed required for this exam is approximately one hour.
Each graduating senior will be assigned A SPECIFIC TEST DATE for taking the CAAP exam. Please see below the table with your date according to your last name. If you have a serious scheduling conflict with your assigned test date, please notify Suzanne Jabaley by Friday, September 11, 2009. Below are the dates and last name assignments for fall 2009 CAAP testing. Testing rooms are located in the University Center (UC).
