05/21/12............Fitness Coach - The Rush - Position Performance Summary Includes but not limited to: Under the direction of the Fitness Manager, Fitness Coaches are expected to design and implement individualized coaching programs for The Rush Fitness Complex’s clientele. This role is vital to The Rush for members to attain and maintain their fitness goals. This position calls for extremely motivated, professional and enthusiastic people who will be representing The Rush directly to our member base. Based upon performance, qualifications and availability, clients may be directly assigned to Fitness Coaches. Fitness Coaches are also expected to attain clients on their own through our membership base and Rush Hour process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Keeps accurate records of all clients’ workouts and information.
- Carries a clipboard with each client’s specific program throughout their training session.
- Begins each shift on time, wearing the proper uniform (Rush approved top; all black pants or shorts; name tag and clean sneakers).
- Pays 100% attention to each client during their training session.
- Will not skip or reschedule clients without Fitness Manager approval.
- Clocks in and out for all shifts/training hours.
- Has clients sign (and use the fingerprint system) all applicable forms per training session for accurate record keeping.
- Has the ability to charge a client for a missed session (24 hour notice), but must check in with the FM to work for that hour.
- Fills out the Master Appointment Book weekly and updates any changes and/or reschedules to allow the FM to schedule clients accordingly.
- At the end of each pay period, turns in to the Fitness Manager all the appropriate paperwork to reflect how many hours were worked.
- Has the ability to voluntarily attend the monthly 30 minute Club Fitness Department Meeting to receive any department updates and information (paid 30 mins).
- Has the ability to attend continuing education workshops to further knowledge and expertise in various fitness coaching areas.
- Has the ability to partake in voluntary Corporate Rush Fitness Continuing Education Courses (CECs) that upon completion can result in a higher earning level per hour.
- Maintains a positive mindset while at The Rush. This can be exhibited by treating others (team members and members) with respect and demonstrating a cooperative and positive work environment (smiling, being friendly, non-defensive, etc.).
- Promotes and sells various services. Fitness Coaches at The Rush are expected to contribute to the club goal (and earn commissions) monthly by:
- Resigning their existing clientele (RS: Resigns)
- Finding new clients themselves for personal training (NPOS: Non Point of Sale)
- Making recommendations to clients and other members about appropriate supplementation / meal replacements and nutritional guidance (R3 and supplements)
- Keeps the club clean, including but not limited to: picking up equipment, club walk-throughs, periodic locker room checks and any other minor janitorial issues that may arise.
- Answers member’s questions or politely directs them to the proper manager who may be able to answer their question.
- Works with the Fitness Manager and Fitness Counselor on when their current client’s sessions are ending and how to promote the current month’s FC specials.
Qualifications
Prerequisite for Hiring - To be eligible for hire to become a Fitness Coach, all applicants must attend The Rush’s 3 Day Certification Course and pass the computerized and hands-on exams with a minimum of 90%.
Availability - Fitness Coaches must be able to dedicate a minimum of 10 hours per week which includes their FC Hours, Floor Shifts and Rush Hours.

Minimum Production Expectations
- Fitness Coaches are expected to resign 60% of their clientele annually (will be evaluated quarterly for annual projection) and or produce a minimum of 72 Non Point of Sale Fitness Coaching sessions per year (average of 6 per month).
Compensation
- There is a pay rate scale at The Rush Fitness that rewards continuing education and delivering a diverse type of service to our members. Note the following:
- $12.50 Bronze
- $15.00 Silver
- $17.50 Gold
- $20.00 Platinum
- All Fit Coaches will start at $12.50 and have the opportunity to increase their hourly pay by accomplishing the following (NOTE: each task will increase one level higher):
- Having a BS in a health/exercise related field (Due to the vast type of degrees that are available, it is up the discretion of the Regional Fitness Manager and VP of Fitness to determine if the applicant’s degree qualifies)
- Holding a current certification with any of the following: NASM, PTA-Global, NSCA, NATA, ACSM or ACE
- Completion of a BTS Program Certification and consistently teaching a minimum 4 classes per month and follows all policies and procedures required by the Group X Department.
- Completion of the Rush Group Fitness Coaching Certification and training at least 8 Group Sessions per month.
- Fitness Coaches can also earn the following:
- 30 Minute Sessions: $10.00 per session
- FC42: $5 in addition to their current 60 minute rate
- Small Group: $10 in addition to their current 60 minute rate
- Anytime that a client purchases another training package with their Fitness Coach (Resign), the Fitness Coach will earn a bonus of $2 multiplied times the amount of sessions purchased (ex. 50 sessions purchased, $100 bonus).
- Anytime that a client purchases a Coaching Package at the point of sale and the Fitness Coach was involved, the Fitness Coach will earn a bonus of $1 multiplied times the amount of sessions purchased (ex. 50 sessions purchased, $50 bonus).
- The Fitness Coach will receive a 30% revenue share of all DotFit products that their clients purchase online monthly.
