Sun Microsystems Foundation (11/25/08)
- Academic Excellence Grants (Hardware Donations): Provides hardware to academic & research institutions for projects that address Sun Microsystem's priorities & create partnerships for success. Deliverables include integration of Sun technologies into undergraduate and graduate curricula; community development; localization of codes and development tools into languages other than English; outreach; and software development. Grants do not include maintenance, service, or technical support.

- Faculty and Student Teams Program: Faculty from colleges & universities with limited research facilities & those institutions serving populations who are underrepresented in the fields of science, engineering, & technology are encouraged to apply. FaST program will support a team comprised of one faculty member & up to three undergraduate (no grad) students for hands-on research opportunities in DOE national labs during the summer. Faculty member identifies a mutually beneficial research area for collaboration with a laboratory scientist.

- Learning and Leadership/Student Achievement Grants: Learning & Leadership Grants provide opportunities for teachers, education support professionals, & higher education faculty & staff to engage in high-quality professional development & lead their colleagues in professional growth. The grant amountis $2,000 for individuals & $5,000 for groups engaged in collegial study. Student Achievement Grants provide $5,000 to improve the academic achievement of students by engaging in critical thinking & problem solving that deepen knowledge of standards-based subject matter.

- SJI Grant Programs:Supports research, demonstrations, & training to improve judicial administration of the state courts. Preference is given to projects that have national significance. Offers six types of grants: Project Grants, Technical Assistance Grants, Curriculum Adaptation & Training Grants, Scholarships, Strategic Initiatives Grants & Partner Grants. Deadlines refer to scholarship applications; all other applications are accepted at any time and reviewed at quarterly board meetings.

- Ecosystem Science Grants: The Ecosystem Studies Program supports investigations of whole-system ecological processes and relationships in ecosystems across a diversity of spatial and temporal (including paleo) scales. Proposals may focus on areas such as: biogeochemistry; nutrient cycling; energy flow; primary productivity; stoichiometric relationships; climate-ecosystem feedbacks; radiatively active gas flux; element budgets on watershed, regional, continental, or global scales; relationships between diversity and ecosystem function; ecosystem services; and landscape dynamics. Proposals will be considered that focus on advancing ecosystem science through either the pursuit of new theoretical paradigms or novel modeling efforts. Proposals that, in whole or part, strive to develop new techniques can be supported when a compelling argument exists that there is the potential for a major advance in ecosystem research.

- Awards and Grants Program: This program supports efforts to enhance international business education programs and to expand the capacity of the business community to engage in international economic activities. For this competition, there is a competitive preference priority (i.e., additional points are awarded) for programs that establish internships overseas to enable foreign language students to develop their foreign language skills and their knowledge of foreign cultures and societies.

- Awards and Grants Program: The Association's awards program includes honors for teaching, service to the profession, research, media coverage of reading, and authorship of children's books. Grants support professional development, graduate studies, and research. IRA funds Children's Literature Awards; Professional Development Awards & Grants; Research Awards & Grants; Service Awards; Teachers Awards & Grants & Travel Grants. American Association of University Women Educational Foundation (11/05/08)
- Community Action Grants: Supports one-year grants ($2,000-$7,000), which provide seed money for new projects and two-year grants ($5,000-$10,000), which provide start-up funds for longer-term programs that address the particular needs of the community and develop girls' sense of efficacy. For both programs, topic areas are unrestricted, but should include a clearly defined activity that promotes education and equity for women and girls. Applicants must be women who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents.

- Healthy Start Initiative-Eliminating Racial/Ethnic Disparities: Under this program, grants will be awarded to address significant disparities in perinatal health indicators: Eliminating Disparities In Perinatal Health focuses on disparities among Hispanics, Americans Indians, African Americans, Alaska Natives, Asian\Pacific Islanders, Immigrant Populations, or differences occurring by education, income, disability, or living in rural-isolated areas by enhancing a community's service system. Communities must provide a scope of project services that will cover pregnancy and interconceptional phases for women and infants residing in the proposed project area. Services are to be given to both mother and infant for two years following delivery to promote longer interconceptional periods and prevent relapses of unhealthy risk behaviors.

- Fulbright-Hays Faculty Research Abroad (FRA) Fellowship Program: The Fulbright-Hays Faculty Research Abroad Fellowship Program offers opportunities to faculty of Institutions of Higher Education (IHEs) to engage in research abroad in modern foreign languages and area studies. A research project that focuses on one or more of the following geographic areas: Africa, East Asia, Southeast Asia and the Pacific Islands, South Asia, the Near East, East Central Europe and Eurasia, and the Western Hemisphere (excluding the United States and its territories). Please note that applications that propose projects focused on Western Europe are not eligible.

- Petroleum Research Fund, Undergraduate New Investigator Grants: The Petroleum Research Fund (PRF) is an endowed fund, managed by the American Chemical Society that supports fundamental research directly related to petroleum or alternate energy at nonprofit institutions (generally colleges and universities) in the United States and other countries. The Undergraduate New Investigator (UNI) grants program provides funds for scientists and engineers who are beginning their independent careers in academia and have limited or no preliminary results for a research project they wish to pursue. The UNI grants are to be used to illustrate proof of principle, i.e., feasibility, and accordingly, are to be viewed as seed money for generating preliminary results that can be used to apply for continuation funding from the PRF (Type UR grants) or other agencies such as the NSF, DOD, etc.

- Petroleum Research Fund, Undergraduate Research Program: The Petroleum Research Fund (PRF) is an endowed fund, managed by the American Chemical Society that supports fundamental research directly related to petroleum or alternate energy at nonprofit institutions (generally colleges and universities) in the United States and other countries. The Undergraduate Research (UR) Program supports the research programs of established scientists and engineers at non-doctoral research departments and provides financial support for students at those institutions – the next generation of scientists and engineers – to become involved in advanced investigative research activities, in preparation for continued study in graduate school or employment.
