
Freshman Orientation is a two day session. Students attending the Freshman Orientation program are required to stay on campus overnight. There is no housing available for parents. Last summer, the session started with optional housing tours at 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. Placement testing started at 12:00 p.m. The session lasted until around 4:00 p.m. on Day Two. When making plans to attend Orientation, we ask that you not plan to leave the UTC Campus until 4:00 p.m.

When you attend Orientation, you’ll be led by an Orientation Leader (OL) in a small-group setting. Your OL will be able to answer your questions about getting involved on campus, as well as explain the catalog, UTC advisement procedures, and make other recommendations. During Orientation, you’ll meet with a faculty academic advisor and register for fall classes. Below is the Summer 2009 schedule of events (please note, times given are Eastern Time). This summer's schedule will be different, but this should give you a good idea of what the session will be like.

| During dinner you will here from a representative from the UTC Department of Public Safety about safety and security at UTC. You will also hear a presentation about several of UTC's student services, including Housing, Food Service, Financial Aid, and Registration. | ||

| Our cast of professional actors will give you a glimpse into life at Chattanooga. | ||

| Here you will have the opportunity to meet several of our student organizations, watch a movie on the hill, go to the Internet Cafe at the UC, get some food at Campus Crossroads, and relax as you socialize with other members of the class of 2013. | ||

| Your last event of the day! OLs will take roll at this session and will provide you with an overview of Day Two. Your OL will also be available to answer any questions you might have about issues that were covered on Day One. | ||

| This session will discuss strategies and tips that will give you a better chance of having a great first year at Chattanooga. You will be dismissed from this session into your advising groups. | ||

| You will learn the basics from a member of UTC's faculty and representatives from the advising team. | ||

| Faculty from each department will provide you with a handout that covers essential information about your major. Faculty, along with advisors and OLs will begin to help you plan your schedule for the fall semester. | ||
