New Students Entering Fall 2010

There are 8 sessions for freshman and 4 sessions for transfers held during the summer.

Freshmen Students

There are 8 two-day Orientation programs for freshmen entering UT in the fall term. An advance reservation is required to attend these sessions. Do not make any travel plans until you have successfully completed the reservation process. Your reservation is not complete until you have either paid the Orientation fee or made arrangements with the Orientation office. Please check your UTC email for confirmation to ensure that you will be arriving on the accurate date.

  • Check In: Check-in for this program is from 9:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at the University Center on the first day of your Orientation session. Your exact check-in time will be determined by which, if any, placement exams you are required to take. Plan on arriving at least 45 minutes before the start of your placement exam. We estimate you will be finished with the orientation program by 5:00 pm on the second day. Since advising and registration is done last, you should not plan on leaving early. The University Center is located 634 E. 5th St. at the corner of E. 5th Street and Lansing Court.
  • Get Your Mocs Card: You will have the opportunity to receive your Mocs Card (student ID) during your orientation session. Your picture will be taken at this time. Please note you must bring a valid driver’s license or another type of photo ID to have your student ID made.
  • Parent Orientation: A Parent Orientation is offered during the same timeframe as freshmen orientation to help answer questions and concerns from a parent’s point of view. Parents and guardians of incoming freshmen will have the opportunity to meet with student Orientation Leaders (OLs) and members of the faculty and staff during this program designed especially for them. This program is not recommended for young children.
  • Parking: While attending orientation, you may park anywhere on campus. We recommend the 5th Street garage which is right across the street from the University Center. Parking in loading zones, handicapped spots, or on the street may result in your vehicle being ticketed or towed. (See also: Parking Services)
  • Registration: If you are an Early Bird participant, you will be able to reserve a spot in mid to late November. Online registration will start in January 2010 for all students. Please remember that you must complete the reservation process to attend orientation. [top]
