So….the first summer Orientation was this past Thursday and Friday. Being the awesome OL that I am, my small group partner and I decided to take our group to a place full of history and tradition, a place that shows the power of the students, and a place that is entirely concrete. I refer to, of course, the Student Ampitheatre next to the Fine Arts Center. Now, the Ampitheatre is entirely concrete with two sets of steep stairs leading to the ground. I am not a clumsy person and have never had a problem with stairs. So, I should have no trouble walking down them. Oh, just wait.
I am laughing and talking and joking with my group of students and walking down the stairs at the same time. (Yes, I can walk and talk at the same time. Doing all of that and chewing gum…more difficult) As I reach the last 2 stairs, I trip and tumble down to the ground, landing on my knees and skinning my left toe as I gracefully descend. Have you ever heard 25 people try to supress uncontrollable laughter? I have. But, I didn’t care. My foot hurt too badly.
I performed some minor first aid, and am happy to say that I am now the only person I know with nine toes.
Haha. Gotcha. But, when coming to Orientation, in addition to bringing Extra-Long sheets, a blanket, and a pillow for your stay in Johnson Village, it probably wouldn’t hurt to bring a couple of band-aids.
See y’all soon! “Faciemus-We shall Achieve!”

We have now closed the July 17-18 session. That means that if you have not already signed up for Orientation there are only two available sessions left: July 24-25 and August 13.
Please sign up as soon as you can for one of these two remaining sessions. Our MocsCamp program is filling up quickly also. If you are interested in more information about the program, please check out the MocsCamp website or call the Orientation office.

Effective fall 2010, the Department of Physical Therapy at UTC will only admit students who have completed a bachelor’s degree in a major other than pre-physical therapy by the time they enter the program. As a result of this change, undergraduate students will no longer be allowed to declare pre-physical therapy as a major on our campus.
Alternatively, undergraduate students must declare and complete a degree in a related field while simultaneously completing all program pre-requisite coursework. Suggested programs of study include the BS in:
- HHP Exercise Science
- HHP Movement Science
- Psychology
- Chemistry
- Physics
- Biology
Students should seek primary advisement for their declared major in the appropriate academic department. They are encouraged to seek advisement relating to the PT program prerequisites by calling the Department of Physical Therapy at 425-4747; they should also study the department website: www.utc.edu/physicaltherapy.

Whats Up Y’all !!!
So we are almost done with Orientation Leader Training and can’t wait for you all to get here! Students and Parents remember to come to Orientation with an open mind and some major pieces of information ready. Make sure to know your UTC ID which is that 3-letter, 3-number (ABC123) combination, your Secure ID or SID which is printed on your acceptance letter, and get ready to have FUN! We have been preparing for you all and hope that you will have an awesome first experience on campus.
Two last things to keep in mind, make sure to know whether or not you have to take the English placement exam (call 423-425-5220 if you don’t know) and make sure to get here in time to park, get registered, and slide into the exam room with ease–We will do the rest!
I can’t wait to meet each of you, and if you haven’t registered for orientation yet go to www.utc.edu/orientation and click “register for orientation” on the left. Don’t use the enter key while registering, just click all the buttons with your mouse.
GO MOCS!

This past weekend we took 16 of our Orientation Leaders to the Southern Regional Orientation Workshop in Columbus, GA. This was a great experience for them and we all learned several things that will help us improve UTC’s Orientation program for you and your family.
Remember the registration page will be up and running on Monday, March 17th!

The new website should go live today. There are still some little things that need to be added but they will come over the next couple of days. The most important news is that the registration page will go live on March 17th. We know that many of you have been anxiously waiting on this. We had some administrative issues that caused a brief delay, but we are ready to go now!
In other news:
Thanks and GO MOCS!!
