4.4. Areas of concern related to continuing to meet the standard
(1) Confusion regarding results of those portions of some key assessments dealing specifically with ability of candidates to address the needs of diverse P-12 students
All candidates complete placements in a range of settings which provide them with the opportunities to work with diverse student populations. As an urban institution, field components required of candidates place them in schools with students from poverty, those whose first language is not English, or young people from a range of diverse ethnic, gender, racial, and religious groups. The Praxis II, Degree +3, and evaluation instruments contain data which demonstrate that candidates understand diversity and use this information to impact student learning positively.
