College of Health, Education and Professional Studies
The College of Health, Education and Professional Studies (CHEPS) is composed of a very diverse group of schools and programs. The College consists of four named schools: Health Science and Human Performance, Education, Nursing, and Professional Studies.
The School of Health Science and Human Performance consists of the departments of Health and Human Performance (HHP) and Physical Therapy (PT). The School of Education is made up of the Graduate Studies Division (GSD) and the Teacher Preparation Academy (TPA). The School of Nursing (SON) stands alone. The School of Professional Studies contains the Department of Human Ecology (HECO) and Human Resources (externally funded programs). Our externally funded programs include the UTC Children's Center; the Center for Community Career Education (CCCE); the Educational Opportunities Center (EOC); GEAR-UP; Education About Asia; English as a Second Language (ESL); Promoting Resolve in Science and Math (PRISM); the Tennessee Early Intervention System (TEIS); the Challenger Center for Teaching and Learning; Each One Reach One (EORO); Urban IMPACT; the Osborne Initiative; and the Governor's School for Prospective Teachers.
