Welcome to the UTC Graduate School Web site!
The Graduate School is proud to have a complete array of degrees, starting with master's programs, progressing to education specialist programs, and capping our offerings with doctoral programs. We also offer non-degree work and graduate certificates.
Our mainstays are the master's and doctoral programs in the four academic colleges: Arts and Sciences, Business, Engineering and Computer Science, and Health, Education, and Professional Studies. A recent book termed master's education the "silent success" story because these programs in their quiet way have been so critical in advancing students' personal knowledge and their professional careers. UTC is also proud to offer three doctoral degree programs-- a clinical doctorate (D. P. T.) in Physical Therapy, an applied doctorate (Ed. D.) in Learning and Leadership, and a research doctorate (Ph. D.) in Computational Engineering. Our graduate students at all levels are receiving increased recognition for their scholarship and research activities. Alumni of our graduate programs, with their knowledge of how to apply theory, their sophisticated research skills, and their ability to think broadly and critically, are the movers and shakers of a community. In preparing our students, we believe and hope that "those having torches will pass them on to others" (Plato, The Republic).
What does the Graduate School offer you? Most of our courses are offered in an evening or cohort delivery for the convenience of working adults. Increasingly, we offer courses online, particularly in education and engineering management.
You will experience the valued interaction between dedicated faculty and students in a close classroom setting. You will find that UTC graduate programs have a deserved reputation for excellent teaching, supportive advising and mentoring; opportunities for internships and practicum experiences with our community partners; a technologically advanced library; and a handsome campus close to the vibrant downtown Riverfront area. Finally, you will discover that the Graduate Student Association represents students in an engaged and lively way with social and career events and provides you with the opportunity to show your leadership capabilities.
Please examine the rest of our website and let us know if you have any questions or need additional materials. We hope that you'll select The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga for your advanced study.
