Principles for the Selection and Continuance of Distance Education Courses and Programs of Study
- There should be documented and adequate student demand for the courses or programs of study to warrant the expense of their design and implementation
- The academic department should demonstrate a long-term commitment to the distance education courses and programs of study, including broad based support from the department’s faculty
- Faculty teaching distance education courses should agree to receive regular training to ensure they provide appropriate and effective distance education environments to promote student learning
- The Provost reviews the cost effectiveness of distance education courses and programs of study
- The Provost uses the results of course assessment, departmental review, and other objective information to determine whether departments may continue to provide specific distance education courses and programs of study
