Student Employment for Campus Recreation

ARC Building Staff (Aquatic and Recreation Center)
Student Building Managers : Currently No position available
Staff will be assisting ARC users as they enter the building. The Student Building Managers will answer questions about the building and Campus Recreation programs/services. Also answering the phone and handing up equipment while following facility policies and procedures. These managers will be responsible for the daily operation of the ARC, so the the highest maturity is a must. Student building managers will be the first responders to any emergencies in the facility. This is a leadership position that requires students to work well with other university students, faculty and staff, so customer service skills are a must.
Control Desk Attendants: Currently No positions available
Staff will be assisting ARC users as they enter the building. The access desk mangers will answering questions about the building and Campus Recreation programs/services. Also answering the phone and handing up equipment while following facility policies and procedures. This position requires student workers to work well with other university students, faculty and staff, so customer service skills are a must.
Equipment Attendants: Currently No positions available
Staff will control a wide variety of sports equipment such as basketballs, volleyballs and various other pieces of equipment. The equipment staff will manage the flow of this equipment as it is being used in the ARC and it being rented out for external use. This position requires a person with high organization and communication skills that works easily with other university students, faculty and staff.

ARC Fitness Staff
Group Fitness Instructors: Currently no positions available
Certification preferred. Must be enthusiastic about fitness and have a motivating personality. Employees must have experience in aerobic, spin, dance or yoga areas. Preferred qualifications: certificate in one area of fitness class.
Fitness Room Attendants: Currently no positions available
No previous experience necessary. Responsibilities include to assist in the cleaning, maintenance and operation of the fitness and cardiovascular equipment. Also, provide instruction on proper use of the equipment and patron safety. Qualifications: Exercise science majors only.

The following are acceptable certifying agencies: American Red Cross, Ellis and Associates or Boy Scouts of America.

Intramural Staff
Site Coordinators: Currently no positions available
Supervisors serve as on-site administrators for team sports. Duties include supervision of officials, coordinating events, facility preparation, and equipment supply/distribution. Interested persons should be familiar with one or more intramural team sports with officiating experience required.
Referees: Now accepting certified referee applications.
Officials are needed for the team sports of Flag Football, Basketball, Softball, Soccer and Volleyball. Previous officiating experience and knowledge of one of these sports is preferred. Officials meetings and clinics are scheduled by the Intramural Coordinator to offer beginning and veteran officials the necessary knowledge and skill required to officiate.
Scorekeepers: Currently no positions available
Scorekeepers are needed for Soccer, Volleyball, Flag Football, Basketball, and Softball. Evening hours are standard, as well as some weekend activities.

UTC Outdoor Staff
Trip leader for the Mocs Paddling Program: Currently no positions available
Mocs paddling trip leaders will be trip leading all whitewater rafting, whitewater kayaking, canoeing and extreme whitewater tubing programs. It involves planning, organizing, implementing and marketing these trips to the UTC community. The trip leader must have experience in all areas of paddle sports. Preferred qualifications: Wilderness first responder, ACA instructor and first aid & CPR/AED.
Trip leader for the UTC Adventure Series: Currently no positions available
The UTC Adventure Series trip leaders will be trip leading all hiking, backpacking, caving, mountain biking, winter sports and rock climbing programs. It involves planning, organizing, implementing and marketing these trips to the UTC community. The trip leader must have experience in all areas of wilderness sports. Preferred qualifications: Wilderness first responder and first aid & CPR/AED.
Rock Climbing Specialist : Currently no positions available
This position will be working on the 42ft tall climbing tower and is part of the UTC Outdoors program. It involves belaying participants, marketing the climbing wall, keeping up with safety standards, setting routes, and being a member of the UTC Outdoors staff. Must have a passion for the outdoors and working with College students, faculty and staff. Preferred qualifications: Outdoor Recreation majors and several years of experience in rock climbing.
Outdoor Equipment Rental Manager: Currently no positions available
This position works in the ARC Outdoor Center and is part of the UTC Outdoors program. It involves checking out outdoor adventure equipment to the UTC community. Also involved is having local knowledge of outdoor destinations to translate to our customers. No experience required, but a passion for the outdoors is a must! Preferred qualifications: Outdoor Recreation majors.
