Team Information
"The UTC club baseball team is looking for new recruits for the
upcoming fall season. Unlike a varsity sport, club sports are run
solely by the students and players. The baseball team provides a
relaxed, yet competitive atmosphere. High school experience is
recommended but not a requirement.
The UTC club baseball team was started in the spring of 2007. After
securing a uniform sponsorship from Little Debbie Snacks, they went
20-3 in the spring of 2008 and were ranked as high as 4th in the
nation among 175 club teams. The baseball club is a member of the
NCBA, National Club Baseball Association and play in a division
against other club teams like Emory, Furman, and Macon State. The
club has also scheduled other non-division games against Georgia Tech,
Tulane, Florida State, Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Kentucky this fall
and spring. In addition to playing other clubs, they will be playing
Tennessee Temple’s and Covenant’s varsity team this fall.
The Mocs are proud to announce that all practices and home games will
be played at Historic Engel Stadium this fall. The team looks forward
to hosting a wooden bat tournament against other club teams at Engel
later this fall as well as a road trip down to Tallahassee, Florida to
play Florida State University.
The team will hold open tryouts on Thursday September 9th
from 8:00 - 10:00 PM and on Friday September 10th from 3:00 – 5:00 PM
at Engel Stadium located across from the McDonalds on East 3rd Street
and O’Neal Street. All interested players are encouraged to try out and to
contact a team official if they are unable to participate on those dates.
