HERITAGE PLAZA

Heritage Plaza is one aspect of the current campus beautification project that is transforming the landscape surrounding the University Center, Chamberland Field and down Vine Street.

Located where Vine Street intersects the foot path at the base of "cardiac hill" near Lupton Library. Heritage Plaza and the Pedestrian Mall, which extends from East Fifth Street to Vine Street in the area between the University Center and Grote Hall, now features shrubs, trees, planters, benches, table and chair sets and granite medallions.

One of the features of Heritage Plaza are the University seals from the various titles given throughout the history of the campus, including the University of Chattanooga, Chattanooga University, Zion College and Grant University. The addition of these seals has started a new student tradition titled Don't Step on the Seals. Within the first exam period they were installed, students who tred upon them supposedly did not pass their final exams.
