What Can I Do with This Major?

This could be your first question when you discover a new interest area, or you may already have some interests but are not sure about what you will do with the major in a few years. However, you may limit yourself when you ask what can I do with this major? The more important question is what do I want to do with this major?

Majors and careers do not always have a direct connection. Some careers do require a specific undergraduate degree track, such as engineers and nurses. However, many employers are looking for a college graduate in any major. Why? Because a college-educated individual has a valuable skill set regardless of major (think communication skills, leadership qualities, time management skills, ability to learn vast amounts of new information, etc). We encourage students to select a major based on interests and personal strengths; you may then begin to explore the infinite amount of jobs available.

If you want some ideas on how different majors connect to a wide variety of occupations, check out this useful website: "What Can I Do with This Major."
