Advising Philosophy

As an academic advisor, I care about each of my students’ first year experiences. The amount of information to absorb and decisions to be made can be overwhelming; I work with those students to relay important policies and requirements as well as to explore and identify their major and career interests. Another obstacle for many is the demands of college, but my job is to help students make a smooth transition by helping them develop better time management and study skills. I refer students to various campus resources and link them to involvement opportunities to help make their first year both successful and enjoyable. I always strive to be accessible to my students, and I enjoy the one-on-one connections that I build with them each semester. I am excited to be a part of this important time in their lives, and my goal is to help each student reach their highest potential and to ultimately graduate from UTC.
