College of Engineering and Computer Science
UTC completed a $28 million state-of-the-art teaching and research facility to house its engineering, computer science, and mathematics programs. Popular senior design projects have involved our students in the development of their own single-engine aircraft (approved by the FAA), production-quality software packages, an electric car, and an artificial pancreas. Students have completed research for TVA, the National Science Foundation, and other organizations.
Computer Science faculty member Joseph Kizza sees the opportunity for real-world experience as integral to a UTC education. “I believe the future is going to depend more and more on information and the ability to acquire and use it responsibly and fairly. Individuals, communities, and nations are going to prosper or stall based on their ability to use information. Looking at our students, I see them committed, involved, compassionate, and informable, the very ingredients to make me hope for a great future!”
Our engineering program is accredited by the Engineering Accrediting Commission/Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology. Check out student resumes, job listings, and more data about the college at utc.edu/EngineeringAndComputerScience.
