UHON SCHOLARSHIPSWilliam
E. Brock Jr. Scholarships Each year the University Honors (UHON) Program awards exclusive 4-year renewable scholarships to freshmen selected for the UHON Program. These scholarships are funded by the Wiliam E. Brock Jr., Paul Koblentz and Robert M. "Bobbie" Yates Scholarship endowments. Brock, Koblentz and Yates Scholarships are of equal value and are selected using the same application process. These scholarships are renewable for up to eight semesters, as long as the student remains in good standing with the UHON Program. The student must maintain at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA and make at least 24 hours progress toward graduation each year. To be considered for a UHON Scholarship, a student must submit both the University Honors Program Application and the UTC Application for Undergraduate Admissions no later than December 15 of the senior year in high school. (Students are encouraged to submit both applications by the Undergraduate Admissions Office "Early Bird" deadline of Nov. 15.) Selection for UHON Scholarships is based on the quality of the complete UHON application file, which includes high school academic record, ACT or SAT scores, teacher recommendations, extracurricular activities, essays and interviews. UHON Scholarships can be combined with Chancellor's Scholarships and Provost's Scholarships, and with TN Lottery Scholarships, as long as the total award does not exceed the cost of attendance as determined by the Financial Aid Office. Most UHON students receive a "full ride"--a scholarship package that covers the cost of on-campus housing, the required meal plan, books and all maintenance and enrollment fees (what most people call "tuition").
