| The UHON application deadline for fall 2010 freshmen is December 15, 2009.
UHON applicants should also apply for admission to UTC and submit the required application fee as soon as possible, prefereably before the November 16 Early Bird deadline, to insure maximum scholarship eligibility.
A complete UHON application file must include the following:
|

|
|
- A completed Application for University Honors Program form (two pages). There is no additional fee for the UHON application.
- An Activity Sheet (two pages). Please record your activities on our form. Please do not simply write "see attached" on our form and attach a resume'.
- Three Teacher Evaluations using the provided forms, sealed and returned with all the other application materials. One must come from a high school English teacher; one must come from a high school math or science teacher; the third should come from any teacher you choose.
- An official copy of your high school transcript, sealed, signed across the envelope flap by your counselor and returned with all the other UHON application materials. This is in addition to the transcript sent directly to the Admissions Office with the undergraduate admissions application.
- SAT and/or ACT scores. Scores printed on the high school transcript are sufficient for the UHON application as long as official scores have been sent directly to the Undergraduate Admissions Office. If your test scores do not appear on your high school transcript, you should include a copy of your official score report from the testing service.
- An original piece of writing of between 500 and 1000 responding to the following topic: if you were to write your autobiography 30 years from now, what would appear on pages 311 and 312? Be creative, thoughtful, and have fun.
- International students should also submit a copy of their TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) scores, if they are not native English speaking.
It is your responsibility to insure that all materials, including your teacher evaluations and a copy of your transcript, are received by the UHON Office in time to meet the deadline. Incomplete applications or application materials received after December 15 will be held on file but will not be considered until after all applicants who met the December 15 deadline have been fully evaluated. Although in some years one or two exceptionally strong late applicants have been admitted, no late applicants were admitted in the last two recruitment cycles due to a record number of highly qualified timely applicants. We do not expect the number or quality of our applicants to decline this year.
Letters will be mailed in early to mid-January to all applicants whose files were complete on December 15, notifying them of their status in the application process. Approximately 90 of those applicants will be invited to attend one of three on-campus visits, which include required interviews and other activities that are part of the application evaluation process. The visit dates for 2008 are January 31-February 1, February 14-15 and February 21-22. We make every effort to accommodate applicants' preferences for visit dates, but early applicants will be given scheduling priority. Attendance at all parts of a campus visit is required for consideration for UHON admission. The visits last two days and provide opportunities for the applicants to experience the Honors Program and UTC up close. Applicants spend Sunday night on campus with current UHON students.
In early to mid-March after all the campus visits are completed, approximately 45 applicants will receive invitations to join the Honors Program. Recipients of the UHON Scholarships will also be notified of their awards at that time. |
