Stanley Booth (b. 1942)

Biography

Stanley Booth is a native of Waycross, Georgia. Booth learned to read at age 3 and wrote his first novel at age 9. He went to attend Memphis State University, graduating in 1962, and then attended Tulane University for graduate school. An influential rock critic, Booth traveled with the Rolling Stones and chronicled their tours in multiple books. He has also written, and continues to write, for many popular magazines. His work on the Rolling Stones is considered to be the definitive source on the group. Booth is married to fellow writer Diann Blakely, and they make their home in Savannah, Georgia.
