Paul H. Bergeron (b. 1938)
Biography
Paul H. Bergeron was born in Alexandria, Louisiana, on February 8, 1938. He attended Louisiana College as an
undergraduate B.A. (1960), then took his M.A. (1962) and Ph.D. (1965) degrees at Vanderbilt University. Bergeron then taught at Vanderbilt from
1965-72. From 1972-2002, he taught History at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, when he retired to Professor Emeritus status. Bergeron's most notable project while at UTK was his work in editing and directing the Andrew Johnson papers. He continues to live in Knoxville.
