Pamela C. Ashmore

Professor of Anthropology and Department Head

Dr. Ashmore is a biological anthropologist who arrived on the UTC campus in August 2012. Her research interests focus on the nonhuman primates and in particular on macaques (primates like the Japanese and rhesus monkeys). She is interested in looking at the range in adaptations that closely related species exhibit. She is also investigating why humans decide to bring nonhuman primates (monkeys and apes) into their households. In order to promote science education, Dr. Ashmore has worked with Science and Math middle and high school teachers in the Greater St. Louis region to help them introduce lesson plans and content related to anthropology. She will be teaching courses at UTC in Biological Anthropology, Forensic Anthropology and Human Variation.
