BACCALAUREATE SOCIAL WORK PROGRAM
ASSESSMENT OF STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES
LAST COMPLETED ON (April 24, 2013)
All Council on Social Work Education programs measure and report student learning outcomes. Students are assessed on their mastery of the competencies that comprise the accreditation standards of the Council on Social Work Education. These competencies are dimensions of social work practice that all social workers are expected to master during their professional training. A measurement benchmark is set by the social work programs for each competency. An assessment score at or above that benchmark is considered by the program to represent mastery of that particular competency.
The measurement benchmark set by the social work program at UTC is four on a Five point Likert scale. Assessment scores of three or higher represents adequate mastery of that particular competency. Assessment scores represent the aggregate mean of student outcomes for the practice behaviors of each competency. Educational assessment tools used to evaluate student outcomes in the social work program at UTC include a final field evaluation binder and an e-portfolio. Findings are from students that graduated in 2011 and 2012.
