Dr. Auchter joined the department as an Assistant Professor of Political Science in fall 2012.  Dr. Auchter's main research and teaching interests lie in the field of International Relations.  She has published articles in Review of International Studies, International Feminist Journal of Politics, and a book review in the Journal of Politics.  She is the recipient of the Fred Hartmann paper award from the International Studies Association for her research on memorials to undocumented immigrants who die crossing the US-Mexico border.  Her current research focuses on the politics of dead bodies in international relations, particularly as it relates to questions about who counts as politically qualified life.  Dr. Auchter also serves on the editorial communications team for the journal International Political Sociology, and on the governing council of the International Studies Association Northeast.  She regularly presents her research at international conferences.
