DR. HERBERT BURHENN holds a Ph.D. from Yale University and joined the UTC faculty in 1970. He served for more than two decades as head of the Department of Philosophy and Religion and as Dean of Arts and Sciences from 1999-2012. He teaches in the areas of Western religious thought, logic, philosophy of science, and the history of philosophy. His research is concerned with attempts to construct theories about religion. His most recent essay, "Understanding Aztec Cannibalism," appeared in the Archiv für Religionspsychologie 2004.
