Nursing Scholarships

Fall Scholarships must be received by 5:00pm on October 1st
Spring Scholarships must be received by 5:00pm on February 1st
(Please note: No late applications will be accepted.)

All scholarship materials must be in a folder and turned into the Administrative Coordinator in Metro 310. Please read the instructions for the scholarship you are applying for carefully to be sure you submit all required materials.

Chattanooga-Hamilton County Medial Auxiliary Scholarship
Awarded: Fall and Spring semesters
Amount: $1000 each semester to 1 recipient
Criteria: academic achievement (GPA 3.0 or higher), financial need, and demonstrated characteristics of motivation and integrity. First, second, and third semester undergraduate students are eligible for this award.

Submit:
• A cover letter that introduces you and the materials you are submitting
• A resume that includes work, community, and professional service activities (including offices held in organizations), memberships, awards, and honors
• Transcript or RAP sheet
• A statement of financial need
• Two letters of recommendation from faculty or supervisors
• Recommended: Other items to substantiate the application (letters of recommendation, Letters or certificates of recognition or appreciation for speaking, volunteering, service, etc.)

 

Jill Wheeler Memorial Scholarship
Awarded: Fall and Spring semesters
Amount: $500 each semester to 1 recipient
Criteria: scholarship, leadership, service, and satisfactory clinical performance, as well as demonstrated emotional maturity, perseverance, tact, insight, and effective communication skills. Fourth and fifth semester undergraduate students are eligible for this award.

Submit:
• A cover letter that introduces you and the materials you are submitting
• A resume that includes work, community, and professional service activities (including offices held in organizations), memberships, awards, and honors
• Transcript or RAP sheet
• A statement of financial need
• An essay that briefly addresses your commitment to scholarship, leadership, and service, and that includes an instance in which you demonstrated clinical excellence.
• Three letters of recommendation from faculty or supervisors. References that specifically address the criteria listed above are of particular importance.
• Recommended: Other items to substantiate the application (additional letters of recommendation, letters or certificates of recognition or appreciation for speaking, volunteering, service, etc.)

Richard H. Ginn Scholarship
Awarded: Fall and Spring semesters
Amount: $1000 each semester to 1 recipient
Criteria: academic performance and/or financial need. Undergraduate and graduate nursing students are eligible for this award.

Submit:
• A cover letter that introduces you and the materials you are submitting
• A resume that includes work, community, and professional service activities (including offices held in organizations), memberships, awards, and honors
• Transcript or RAP sheet
• A statement of financial need
• Recommended: Other items to substantiate the application (letters of recommendation, letters or certificates of recognition or appreciation for speaking, volunteering, service, etc.)

Christine B. Little Scholarship
Awarded: Fall and Spring semesters
Amount: $500 each semester to 1 recipient
Criteria: academic achievement and financial need. Undergraduate women over age 25 are eligible for this award.

Submit:
• A cover letter that introduces you and the materials you are submitting
• A resume that includes work, community, and professional service activities (including offices held in organizations), memberships, awards, and honors
• Transcript or RAP sheet
• A statement of financial need
• Letters or certificates of recognition or appreciation for speaking, volunteering, service, etc.
• Recommended: Other items to substantiate the application (letters of recommendation, etc.)

Dr. E.E. Reisman Jr. Memorial Scholarship
Awarded: Fall and Spring semesters
Amount: $1000 each semester to 1 recipient
Criteria: academic merit (GPA 3.0 or higher) and financial need. Second and third semester undergraduate nursing students are eligible for this award.

• A resume that includes work, community, and professional service activities (including offices held in organizations), memberships, awards, and honors
• Transcript or RAP sheet
• A statement of financial need
• Letters or certificates of recognition or appreciation for speaking, volunteering, service, etc.
• Optional: Other items to substantiate the application (letters of recommendation, etc.)

H. Clay Evans Johnson Nursing Award
Awarded: Fall and Spring semesters
Amount: $500 each semester to 1 MSN recipient
$500 each semester to 1 BSN recipient
Criteria: academic achievement, clinical excellence, and community service. Fourth and fifth semester undergraduate students and graduate students are eligible.

Submit:
• A cover letter that introduces you and the materials you are submitting
• A resume that includes work, community, and professional service activities (including offices held in organizations), memberships, awards, and honors
• Transcript or RAP sheet
• Letters or certificates of recognition or appreciation for speaking, volunteering, service, etc.
• A one page essay about a time you believe you demonstrated clinical excellence. Please include the name of your supervisor at the time.
• Optional: Other items to substantiate the application (letters of recommendation, etc.)

Martha Butterfield Graduate Nursing Scholarship
Awarded: Fall semesters
Amount: $750 to 1 recipient
Criteria: include commitment to nursing, clinical competency, and leadership. Graduate students who have completed 9 hours of the graduate program and are currently enrolled in the second 9 hours are eligible.

Submit:
• A cover letter that introduces you and the materials you are submitting
• A resume that includes work, community, and professional service activities (including offices held in organizations), memberships, awards, and honors
• Transcript or RAP sheet
• Letters or certificates of recognition or appreciation for speaking, volunteering, service, etc.
• An essay that addresses all criteria listed above should include—at a minimum—professional goals and aspirations, clinical experience through school and/or work, at least one example of a time you believe you demonstrated clinical excellence, and roles in which you have demonstrated professional leadership skills at school and/or work.
• Optional: Other items to substantiate the application (letters of recommendation, etc.)

Nursing Alumni Scholarship
Awarded: Fall semesters
Amount: $300 to 1 recipient
Criteria: include the completion of at least 1 semester of the nursing major and demonstrated financial need. Undergraduates who have completed their first semester are eligible for this award.
