I want to welcome you to The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) School of Nursing Web-site. I am pleased that you are interested in Nursing and UTC. Graduates of UTC School of Nursing programs enjoy the reputation of excellence in health care delivery among employers and nursing leaders.

Nursing is an essential profession for the health of our nation and our world. It is an excellent career choice for it is a discipline that is filled with a wide selection of professional opportunities.

Preparation for professional nursing is rigorous and challenging. The baccalaureate program in nursing at UTC includes humanities, behavioral science, natural science as well as nursing science and skill acquisition. As a student at the School of Nursing, you will build the art of nursing on the science of nursing.

I am sure that you will find UTC to be a good environment that stimulates learning and is responsive to your needs. This learning environment extends into the community where nursing students engage in many experiences with a variety of people of all age groups and with a variety of health needs. During clinical experiences, students have the opportunity to interact with people from an array of cultural backgrounds. All experiences will help prepare you for an excellent future in nursing. Our goal is for our graduates to be able to provide professional nursing care that anyone would desire a loved one to receive.

If you desire to become a professional nurse, you have chosen a most worthwhile career and we wish you the utmost success.
The graduate program prepares nurses for advance practice and leadership roles. It builds on the foundation of preparation in nursing at the baccalaureate level. Increased breath and depth of knowledge and advanced skills are utilized in the roles of advance practice nursing, each requiring specialized preparation. The graduate program in nursing at UTC provides students with a quality education based on sound educational principles.
