Program Design
The Master’s of Science in Nursing degree, Nurse Anesthesia Concentration is a 27-month program that requires full-time study. Upon completion of all didactic and clinical requirements with a specialization in nurse anesthesia, the graduate will be eligible to take the National Certification Examination offered by the Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists.
The curriculum is comprised of core courses that cover research and theoretical considerations of advanced nursing practice, and professional and economic issues associated with today’s healthcare environment. The specialty specific courses address the basic and advanced principles and practices of anesthesia with heavy emphasis on physiology, pathophysiology, and pharmacology.
The clinical anesthesia practicum courses begin in the first fall semester and continue throughout duration of the program. Students begin to administer anesthesia under constant supervision of clinical CRNA and/or anesthesiologist preceptors.
Our curriculum is demanding and rigorous. The time commitment required of successful students is substantial.
Accreditation
The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). 
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).
The Nurse Anesthesia Concentration is fully accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Education Programs (COA).
