Why Choose the UTC/Erlanger Nurse Anesthesia Program?
Rich Learning Experience
A 27 month program of rigorous coursework with bountiful clinical experiences prepares our students for the national certification exam offered by the NBCRNA Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists. Once certified, students who earn their MSN in Nurse Anesthesia from UTC may begin work immediately as a CRNA, without the need for additional on-the-job training or work-related orientation.
North Mississippi Medical Center Partnership
Students from Mississippi are encouraged to take advantage of UTC's partnership with North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Mississippi. Through state-of-the-art distance learning technology, students in Tupelo are able to participate in didactic courses while engaged in their clinical education at North Mississippi Medical Center, gaining access to many different specialty areas of anesthesia practice within one institution and without additional travel.
Tuition Benefits
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga offers some of the lowest tuition rates in the region. In addition, UTC participates with fifteen other states in the Academic Common Market. Through this program, students wishing to pursue study in graduate programs not available within their home state may be able to attend out-of-state programs at in-state tuition rates.
No Competition
Medical residency programs in anesthesia are not offered at any of the hospitals where students complete their clinical rotations. As a result, nurse anesthesia students at UTC never have to compete with residents for the opportunity to participate in challenging clinical experiences.
High pass rates
Graduates from the UTC/Erlanger Health Systems MSN Nurse Anesthesia program always surpass the national first-time pass rate on the National Certification Examination. Students who complete the 27-month program at the UTC/Erlanger Nurse Anesthesia Program traditionally score above the national average on their certification examination.
Full Accreditation
The UTC School of Nursing is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) for ten years through 2020. The MSN Nurse Anesthesia Concentration is fully accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA) through May 2022. The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).
