Admissions Requirements

Students seeking admission into the Master of Science in Nurse Anesthesia program must meet the admission requirements of both the Graduate School and the MSN in Nurse Anesthesia program requirements. All application forums, including transcripts, letters of recommendation, and proof of licensure, must be submitted to the Graduate School and the School of Nursing for the application to be considered for admission. For enrollment in Spring 2010, the completed application must be received in the Graduate School by August 1, 2009.

Degree A baccalaureate degree with a major in nursing from a National League for Nursing or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education accredited program. Master’s degree in nursing from The National League for Nursing or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education accredited program. Need official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions
GPA Cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in all undergraduate nursing courses. Cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in all undergraduate nursing courses.
Licensure Currently held unencumbered TN RN licensure as a registered nurse in Tennessee or eligibility for Tennessee licensure. Currently held unencumbered TN RN licensure as a registered nurse in Tennessee or eligibility for Tennessee licensure.
Certifications Students must have BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications prior to enrollment. CCRN is strongly preferred. Students must have BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications prior to enrollment. CCRN is strongly preferred.

Critical Care Experience

At least one year of critical care nursing experience is required for admission to the nurse anesthesia concentration. At least one year of critical care nursing experience is required for admission to the nurse anesthesia concentration.
GRE OR MAT Credible and current (no less than five years old) scores from either the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or the Miller Analogies Test (MAT)
