FAQ for Pre-Nursing Advisement

 

Advisement Sessions for sophomore & junior students.

 
bsn Q: When is my advisement?
A: Freshman pre-nursing majors must meet with April Anderson, the Nursing Advisor/Recruitment & Retention Coordinator, to develop a plan of study during the fall semester. Freshman pre-nursing majors are expected to meet with April Anderson for advisement in the fall and spring.

Advisement for sophomore and junior pre-nursing majors will be in sessions with groups of faculty and students. Students will be required to bring their plan of study developed with The Nursing Learning Resource Center/Recruitment & Retention Coordinator (Anderson) and their RAP sheet. Faculty advising at the session will verify students are on track and give the student their advisement code.

Q: Who is my advisor?
A: Any questions regarding advisement should be addressed to April Anderson.
Q: What do I need to bring to advisement?
A: Your RAP sheet and a rough draft of a possible schedule.
Q: Where do I get my advisement code?
A: You must be advised to obtain your advisement code. Advisement codes change every semester. If you have lost or forgotten your advisement code after attending advisement, you may contact April Anderson.
Q: Why do I need advisement?
A: Nursing has a set curriculum with required pre-requisite classes. It is imperative that you stay on track so that you can complete your education in a timely and cost-effective manner.
Q: What can I expect from my advisor?
A: Your advisor will provide you with curriculum guidance. They will be able to answer questions you have regarding the nursing profession and the educational requirements you will need to meet to be successful. They will answer any questions you may have regarding admission criteria. Advisor/Faculty office hours are posted on their office doors. They will be able to meet with you during those times by appointment only.
