FAQ for Pre-Nursing Advisement

Q: When is my advisement?
- A: A group advisement will be arranged every semester prior to registration. Appointments will be necessary. Notification via email two (2) weeks prior will be sent to all students who have declared pre-nursing (989) as their major. Individual advisement will be provided outside of regular registration on an as needed basis.
- Q: Who is my advisor?
- A: Your advisor is assigned by the School of Nursing. Their name can be located in the upper right hand corner of your RAP sheet.
- Q: What do I need to bring to advisement?
- A: Your RAP sheet and a rough draft of a possible schedule.
- Q: Where do I get my advisement code?
- A: You must attend a group advisement every semester to obtain your advisement code. Advisement codes change every semester. If you have lost or forgotten your advisement code after attending a group advisement session, you may contact your advisor.
- Q: Why do I need advisement?
- A: Nursing has a set curriculum with required pre-requisite classes. It is imperative that you stay on track so that you can complete your education in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Q: What can I expect from my advisor?
- A: Your advisor will provide you with curriculum guidance. They will be able to answer questions you have regarding the nursing profession and the educational requirements you will need to meet to be successful. They will answer any questions you may have regarding admission criteria. Advisor/Faculty office hours are posted on their office doors. They will be able to meet with you during those times by appointment only.
