THE GATEWAY PROGRAM

Come Let us Open the Gateway to your Future

The UTC School of Nursing’s Gateway Program enables registered nurses to obtain a baccalaureate degree in nursing while maintaining their roles in career and family. Planned with the busy, working RN in mind, the Gateway Program allows maximum college credit for previous educational experiences.

The Gateway Program is more flexible than traditional programs with online and classroom instruction. Classes meet at the beginning, middle and end of the semester. Although the majority of the coursework is online, there are still plenty of opportunities to meet with the advisor or members of the faculty. Our partnership with Erlanger Hospital as well as a Federal grant award allows us to offer unprecedented student support. There is always someone available for any assistance or support a student may need.

The Gateway Program features:

  • A curriculum recognizing the registered nurse is a highly motivated, self-directed adult learner
  • Courses reflecting the expanded role of the nurse, such as physical assessment, pathophysiology, nursing research, management and community/public health nursing.
  • A flexible and innovative clinical practicum in various community settings which provides opportunities for synthesis and application of the standards and principles of community/public health nursing.
  • Courses offered during day and evening hours as well as hybrid courses (partially online and partially in-class) to accommodate the working registered nurse
  • Elective course credit for work as an RN, as well as credit for RN licensure

Why choose our Gateway Program?

  • UTC has fully accredited BSN and MSN programs
  • The BSN is a highly respected credential which could open doors for a variety of professional nursing positions and graduate study
  • Students have the opportunity to experience a variety of care settings.
  • Small classes and clinical groups allow for individualized attention
  • Outstanding faculty provide leadership in the area’s health care delivery system and professional organizations
