Master of Science in Nursing Program

The Master of Science in Nursing prepares first quality leaders in advanced nursing practice as family nurse practitioners and nurse anesthetists. Graduates are expected to function as advanced practitioners in regional health care settings, as faculty in schools of nursing, or as mid-level administrators in complex health care organizations. Students are also prepared for doctoral study in nursing and related fields.

The emphasis of master's education at UTC is on developing nursing professionals who possess critical thinking skills and who have the ability to translate knowledge into expert clinical practice. In light of the major changes occurring in the health care industry, the School of Nursing completed an extensive review and revision of the graduate curriculum. All changes are in congruence with the current statement from the American Association of Colleges of Nursing in their Essentials of Master's Education for Advanced Practice.
