CCNE Accreditation Update
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) School of Nursing has received a full 10-year accreditation without any recommendations for its baccalaureate and master’s degree programs. This follows an examination of an extensive self-study and a comprehensive onsite evaluation of the school's curricula and resources by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The CCNE is an autonomous accrediting agency officially recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education as a national accreditation agency ensuring the quality and integrity of baccalaureate, graduate, and residency programs in nursing. Acknowledged as the nation’s top nursing school review body, the CCNE awarded the School of Nursing the highest level of accreditation a nursing program can receive. The accreditation confirms to current and prospective students that UTC offers programs of study in nursing that are nationally recognized and reaffirms the School of Nursing as a leader in nursing education.
The School of Nursing Director, Kay Lindgren PhD RN, heralds the report and believes it acknowledges that the faculty and students continuously engage in the pursuit of excellence. Receiving CCNE’s full accreditation assures the University and the community that the School of Nursing maintains the highest quality standards of curriculum and teaching-learning practices and that all programs are successful in achieving quality outcomes.
