Jazz Band - Dr. Erika Schafer, Director
The UTC Jazz Band is an auditioned group open to any student at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and other local universities as applicable. Through the medium of a jazz ensemble, students will learn about the jazz genre and develop their ability to express themselves through this genre by learning ensemble performance skills, developing improvisational skills, building a repertoire of music by master musicians, and gaining a knowledge of jazz history and theory. The UTC Jazz Band performs once a semester at UTC and also performs additional concerts on campus and beyond throughout the year. The Jazz Band rehearses every Tuesday and Thursday from 10:50 AM - 12:50 PM in the Fine Arts Center. Interested students should contact Dr. Erika L. Schafer.
