Michelle Kei Ishuu, a soprano of Japanese and American heritage, is from Chicago, Illinois. She received both her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the Indiana University School of Music. She also studied abroad at The Institute of European Studies in Vienna, Austria. Possessing a captivating voice and stage presence, she has entertained audiences across the country. Recent engagements include Angelica in Suor Angelica with Rimrock Opera, Paquette in Candide and Yvette and Georgette in The Swallow with Lyric Opera San Diego and First Peasant Girl in Le Nozze di Figaro with San Diego Opera. Her stage credits at Indiana University include the Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute, Fiakermilli in Arabella, Madame Mao in Adams’ Nixon in China, Carrie Pipperidge in Carousel, Lauretta in Bizet’s Dr. Miracle, and Luna 1 in the premiere of Dreamwalker by Patiño. She has also been a featured soloist with the San Diego Symphony, the San Diego Opera Ensemble, the Bloomington Chamber Choir, the Japanese Chicago Oratorio Choir and the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra with Maestro Erich Kunzel. Upcoming engagements include the title role in Tosca with Rimrock Opera.
