Pianist Sin-Hsing Tsai has concertized in Taiwan, China, Korea, Argentina, Germany, and the United States, and has collaborated with many prominent musicians on both sides of the Atlantic. She has participated in several music festivals in the States and abroad, and has premiered numerous contemporary compositions in different settings. Her performing experience extends beyond the concert hall, with broadcasts in Buenos Aires and Chattanooga, and source music recordings for film and theater productions in Los Angeles. Actively involved in the community, she has presented several outreach concerts and workshops.

Dr. Tsai traveled worldwide and studied with renowned pianists such as Vitalij Margulis, Volker Banfield, and Daniel Pollack. During her student years, she distinguished herself, receiving many honors including the Performance Award from Jeunesses Musicales Competition (Argentina, 1986), Gold Medal from the Conservatorio Nacional de Música (Argentina, 1990), Performance Award from the 21st International Young Artists Peninsula Music Festival (USA, 1997), and Outstanding D.M.A. Graduate from the University of Southern California (USA, 2001).

Upon completion of her undergraduate studies, Dr. Tsai started teaching high school at the age of eighteen. Prior to joining the UTC faculty in 2002, she held adjunct positions at the University of Southern California and Los Angeles City College. Dr. Tsai is an active member of the Music Teachers National Association and has served on several committees in the California and Tennessee branches.

Dr. Tsai teaches piano, piano pedagogy and piano literature. She is the recipient of the 2003 UTC Outstanding Creative Scholarship Award and was named UC Foundation Assistant Professor of Music in 2004. Dr. Tsai was named Chattanooga Music Teachers Association 2007 Teacher of the Year due to her inspired leadership and model teaching. In September 2010, because of her personal association with Steinway pianos and in light of her artistic and professional accomplishments, Dr. Tsai was named a Steinway Artist including her in the distinguished artists such as Horowitz, Rubinstein, Paderewski, Kissin, Duke Ellington, Gershwin, and Rachmaninoff.

Having resided in several continents, Dr. Tsai blends traditions from different cultures, offering a new and fresh universal perspective. She speaks Chinese, Spanish, German, and English.
