An avid chamber musician, Heather has performed with The West Texas Winds, the Lydian Ensemble, and the Small-Yang Duo. She was a semi-finalist for the Myrna Brown Artist Competition sponsored by the Texas Flute Society and winner of the New Music Competition at the Kentucky Flute Festival. A lifelong champion of new music, she has given world premiere performances of works by Gary Schocker and Jonathan McNair. Her orchestral experience includes the Midland-Odessa (TX) and Tallahassee (FL) symphonies.

Before her appointment at UTC and Southern Adventist University, Heather was a visiting assistant professor of flute at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas and adjunct instructor of flute at Messiah College, in Grantham, PA. Heather earned her doctorate in flute performance from Florida State University, her masters in flute performance from The University of North Texas, and a bachelor of music education at Oberlin Conservatory. She can be heard on recordings with the North Texas Wind Symphony (Klavier 2000-2002) and has studied with Michel Debost, Mary Karen Clardy, and Eva Amsler.
