Mrs. Pennebaker is a native of Chattanooga. She studied oboe with Edith Walker, Jerry Sirucek and Wayne Rapier.

She graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Music Education Degree and New England Conservatory with a Masters in Oboe Performance. She began playing with the Chattanooga Symphony when she was a sophomore in high school and retired at the end of the 2006 season.

Mrs. Pennebaker is retired from teaching band and orchestra with the Chattanooga Hamilton County Schools. She was Orchestra Director at Chattanooga High, Hixson High, and Chattanooga School for the Arts and Sciences and also taught Band and Strings in several Middle Schools.

Mrs. Pennebaker currently teaches at the University of Chattanooga as well as maintaining a private studio and performing in the Amadeus Ensemble. She is a past president and currently serves on the Board of the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera Youth Orchestras.
