Awards/Scholarships available to Interior Design Majors:
The Bethany Clariday Scholarship goes to the top 3-5 top Sophomores based on Portfolio projects selected by professional interior designer jurors. Bethany Clariday was an enthusiastic Interior Design Major with a commitment to her dream of becoming a designer. She had just been elected Secretary to the newly formed student Construction Specialists Institute (CSI) chapter and was planning to attend the Gulf States Regional Conference when her dreams were cut short with her tragic death from a car crash on her way to school in 2002. The CSI / UTC award provides annual scholarships in Bethany’s name for excellence in the Sophomore Portfolio Review. Her memory lives on through helping other students achieve their academic goals. 2010 winners are:

The Angelo Donghia Senior Scholarship Foundation awarded UTC student, Cindy Tidwell $19,292 to cover her tuition for school year 2010-2011. The foundation was established by the late Angelo Donghia, an internationally recognized interior design icon. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of a juried competition of portfolio submissions. This marks the third year in a row that a student in the UTC Interior Design program has received the award. The jury for this year’s awards included Doris Athenios, Art & Antiques Editor of Traditional Home, and Doretta Sperduto, Decorating Director of House Beautiful.
The Tennessee ASID Jane D. Reagor Award goes to a student showing exemplary service to the Interior Design Deparmtent, the university and community. One student is recommended to the state of Tennessee ASID chapter annually.
Michelle Pearce Award: $500 awarded by the Interior Design faculty to a rising Senior who maintains a GPA of 3.5 and is active in Interior Design organizations. The money goes toward university tuition and fees. The 2011 winner is Liz Carroll.
