UTC’s SHRM Student Chapter

Chapter Mission

  • Provide speakers to help educate students about the field and opportunities within the field.
  • Collaborate with local Chattanooga SHRM via local and state meeting attendance and/or assistance and through giving back to the community.
  • Maintain and increase membership and act as a meaningful resource to student members.

Updates and Meeting Details for Spring 2012

  • The meeting schedule for this semester is as follows:
    • Wednesday 2/22: EEO HR Law
     
    • Thursday 3/1: SHRM Soup & Chili Bowl Fundraiser
      • Location: Psychology Main Office, Holt Hall 350
      • Officers will make chili, crackers, brownies, and hot chocolate.
      • Prices: Soup = $3; Brownies = $1.5; Hot Chocolate = $1; Soda = $.50
     
    • Saturday 3/24: UTC I-O Alumni Social Networking
      • Location: Urban Stack Burger Lounge, 12 West 13th Street, Chattanooga, TN 37402
      • 2:00 to 4:00 pm, with general alumni reconnection/meet-and-greet from 2:00 to 3:00 pm and a networking hour for alumni and current program students from 3:00 to 4:00 pm.
     
    • Thursday 4/12: HR Certifications
      • Speaker: Frank Davis
      • Also this evening, elections will be held for next year's student SHRM officers
  • We also have great volunteer opportunities coming up this semester, including the following
    • Friday, 2/10/12 - Habitat for Humanity (9am - 4pm)
    • Saturday, 2/11/12 - Cupid's Chase (7am - 12pm)
