VISION

To promote evidence-based principles of sound nutrition and active living, thereby optimizing the health and quality of life of members of the academy and metropolitan community through teaching, applied research, and service

MISSION

The Department of Health and Human Performance exists to educate and train students, conduct and translate research, and provide service in the areas of physical activity, preventive and rehabilitative exercise, nutrition, and health promotion. These activities engage the university and the community for the purpose of enhancing health, performance, and improved quality of life among all people.

 

Our mission is accomplished through:

People

  • Advocating for a strong and diverse faculty committed to programs of excellence in the study of health and human performance
  • Conducting and coordinating professional conferences, workshops and seminars
  • Conducting and disseminating research and scholarly activity

Partnerships

  • Providing service and consultation in health and human performance with university, metropolitan Chattanooga, national, and international partners
  • Promoting and marketing programs, products and services in health and human performance
  • Bridging across other disciplines and sectors to promote health and human performance to reach a diversity of people among a diversity of settings

Performance

  • Promoting professional development and evaluation
  • Developing and delivering progressive and innovative programs of study in health and human performance
