Over the years, UT Chattanooga has received enormous support, encouragement and advice from alumni like you who believe in UTC’s “We Shall Achieve” motto. First of all, I want to say thank you for the contributions you have made in the past. I also want to take this opportunity to invite you to participate in our current effort to raise $1 million for the Department of Health & Human Performance by Fall 2012.

Let me catch you up to speed! The Department of Health & Human Performance (HHP) (formally EHLS, HPERD) has 850 undergraduate majors in four concentrations (Nutrition, Pedagogy, Exercise Science, Sport & Leisure Service Administration) and over 50 graduate students in two Master of Science programs (Graduate Athletic Training; and MS: Health & Human Performance with concentrations in Public Health/Active Living and Clinical Exercise Physiology). We are currently housed in multiple buildings on campus. Because of recent acquisitions of buildings, HHP will move into the Metro Building once renovations are completed. All programs will be housed under one roof.  We will be furnishing new classrooms, offices, and laboratories.

Your support of and commitment to Innovation and Opportunity – The Campaign for Health & Human Performance will impact students who are excelling in the classroom and achieving their dreams of an education. These students are future professionals who can think critically and creatively, work in teams, adapt to change, and communicate effectively. Students graduate from UTC with a portfolio of skills and values necessary for success in the workplace and society.

In my more than 40 years of involvement with the Department of Health & Human Performance there has not been an opportunity like the one we have before us. I’m asking now for your support as we enter this exciting new phase. We already have the support of 100% of our HHP Faculty and Staff, and I know I can count on you to join us!

Thank you for your generous support.

Sincerely,

Dr. Leroy Fanning

UC Foundation Professor and Department Head
