POSITION: Associate Professor/Professor and Department Head

This is a twelve-month, full-time, tenure-track appointment.
RESPONSIBILITIES: This position is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the Department of Health & Human Performance, a department of approximately 900 undergraduate students, 45 graduate students and 15 faculty and staff. Responsibilities include managing the budget, interdisciplinary planning and program development, and providing leadership to full- and part-time faculty in instruction, technology, research, funding, and community activities for undergraduate and graduate offerings. The Department of Health & Human Performance, as one of six departments in the College of Health, Education & Professional Studies, reports to the Dean of the College.
QUALIFICATIONS: An earned doctorate in exercise science, public health, athletic training, nutrition, physical education/pedagogy, recreation or a closely related area. The candidate will present an established record of leadership and research. Applicants must demonstrate the knowledge and personal skills necessary to initiate and maintain public awareness and educational activities related to current topics in teaching and learning. In addition, the candidate must demonstrate an ability to interact with and provide leadership to various constituencies (faculty, students, educators, researchers, community leaders, health management and related professionals). The candidate will need to motivate, collaborate and articulate new ideas and a vision for the future of the department. The ideal individual will promote wellness by leading a healthy lifestyle.
